So on Cydias page it suggests backing up itunes. Why? How?

Hi Nick,

This is because in the case that something went wrong, you would have a backup. (it's always good to backup anyway)
To backup in iTunes simply plug in your device and hit the "sync" button. This will create a backup of everything on your device.
