Free iPad iPhone iPod Touch Jailbreak Support > Upgrading Jailbroken iOS 4.2.1 to 4.3.x?

Ok. So here it goes.... I hav an iPod touch 4 running on 4.2.1(jailbroken). Ive never updated it. But recently Garageband was released for all iOS devices which requires 4.3.x. Also there r minute problems like battery issues, heavy games running little slow. Maybe because of the old OD. So i want to ask that is upgrading to 4.3.anything better than 4.2.1 ? If yes, do i download the 4.3 ipsw file like i downloaded to jailbreak 4.2.1 through redsn0w and then install it through redsn0w over my jailbroken 4.2.1? If yes, Will my apps (both official and cracked) remain as it is? will my cydia packages remain as it is?.....OR......do i restore to original state through iTunes....and then download the ipsw file n jailbreak through redsn0w?
