Free iPad iPhone iPod Touch Jailbreak Support > Unable to jailbreak iPad1 iOS 5.0.1 using redsn0w 0.9.9.b8

Hi everyone,

I upgraded my iPad1 to iOS 5.0.1 a few hours ago, because I don't mind having a tethered jailbreak on my iPad. Afterwards I tried to jailbreak it using your instructions (redsn0w 0.9.9.b8) but it failed with the following message:

Unrecognized build.
Fingerprint: cb6e...18fc

Please check whether you have the latest version of redsn0w
and whether this iOS version is supported yet.

NOTE: You can manually specify which build to use by going to
"Extras -> Select IPSW" (sometimes you can use this trick
and just use the latest supported to for your device).

Can someone help?

B9 should be out soon that will fix this problem:

STEPS:

1) Download the IPSW for your device here:
iPad: http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=8500
iPod Touch: http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=757
iPhone: http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=750

2) Go to "Extras -> Select IPSW" in Redsn0w, and then use redsn0w to jailbreak. Let us know if this works for you.

I did what you recommended but it doesn't recognize the official 5.0.1 ipsw.

Maybe I didn't understand what you meant by that, but I do now. I followed this tutorial and was able to jb my iPad1 on iOS 5.0.1.

No luck with this also.
I've tried with downloaded

iPhone3,1_5.0.1_9A405_Restore.ipsw but no luck.

My iphone 4 has never been jailbroken again (i'm not sure if that matters).

redsn0w 0.9.9b8 says

Unsupported ispw

any ideas?

I did the step 2 and there it says
"Unsupported ispw"...
Any ideas about b9?

I'm sorry guys! The whole community thought that the untethered jailbreak would be out by now. I really think it should be out soon. In terms of B9... really really not sure why that's not out.. since that is an easy update.

Here is a video to help you complete step 2 (just to make sure you are doing it right)

In the video it says I am using 4.3.3 – just use 5.0.1 for your device and it should work. Make sure you are using the firmware for your device!

Let me know if you have anymore question or if this works/doesn't work.

I guess I would recommend waiting for B9 or the untethered jailbreak. Sorry I couldn't be of any help :(
