Free iPad iPhone iPod Touch Jailbreak Support > itunes fails to update to the latest version

My iphone 4 (GSM, not S) is running 5.1 tethered. Anything I do to try to update this to 5.1.1 even non-jailbroken is unsuccessful. itunes keeps giving me an error that it can't update the phone. Doing a factory restore and update didn't work either. Now the phone is stuck in the "plug into itunes' mode and itunes still can't update it.

How do I update this to 5.1.1 so that I can re-jailbreak it?
