If I move my AT&T sim card to an AT&T iPhone can I get the iPhone to work? Sim card size is the same and the iPhone has no service at this time. Just looking to make the iPhone a dumb phone. Tried

when I switched to an iphone through at&t it wasn't just a matter of swapping my SIM card - I also had to change my device through an AT&T website as part of the process of getting my number to work on the iphone. It was their iphone, of course. Can you get around that process? I'm not sure.
