Free iPad iPhone iPod Touch Jailbreak Support > Can I restore from 5.1.1 to 5.1.1 using tiny umbrella?

We recently purchased an AT&T Iphone 4s. It is on iOS 5.1.1. I have a backup of the device just prior to the jailbreak. I used Absinthe 2.0.4 and I used tinyumbrella to record my 5.1.1 SHSH blob. I just want to make sure that if or when I need to restore to factory, that I don't brick the phone.

Has the process for restoring to 5.1.1 from 5.1.1 to place the phone back in its unjailbroken state still the same process that was used on 4.3.3 as you showed in your video. Or have any of the steps changed.

The reason that I am asking, is because I have run into comments that with 5.1.1 I will need to stich the shsh into the ipsw with a program like redsnow. Since I used absinthe, I don't know if this is going to make using tinyumbrella a problem or not in doing the factory restore. And I just want to make sure about this before I try.

Hi Robert,

There is no way to brick your phone. Don't worry.

To restore you can just hit the restore button in iTunes. No need to use tiny umbrella because 5.1.1 is the current firmware.

Hope this helps,

Luke

what about when iOS 6.0 comes out. Since I have gone in and stored my shsh localy, and it is also on cydia, will I need to do anything more than using tinyumbrella at that point to keep from upgrading?

Tiny umbrella still needs to be updated for iOS 6. You may need to use redsn0w to stich an iPSW or something. Cross that bridge when you come to it.

You are prepared since you have SHSH blobs saved.
