Free iPad iPhone iPod Touch Jailbreak Support > how do i jailbreak an iphone 3g with 5.1.1 frimware, so i can access the internet.

my phone says i need the setting "cellular data network" but only shows cellular data & its supposed to show both.

The way you phrased this made very little sense, but I'm going to take a stab in the dark here. If I'm misinterpreting, try asking again and be much more specific about what you're trying to do.

My guess is you have an old iphone that can't be used to make calls, so you just want to use it to access the internet. You can't use 3g through cell towers unless you purchase a data plan from a specific cell phone company and they activate your SIM card to work on their network. What you basically have here, jailbroken or not, is an ipod touch. It will connect to nearby wifi networks for internet access, but that's all.
